Nightstop is all about volunteers in the community helping local young people who have fallen on hard times.

Young people can benefit from increased feelings of self-esteem and their confidence in other people is improved. Our volunteers show them a respect they might never have experienced before and, as a result, young people's life chances are improved. Nightstop prevents these vulnerable young people from threats that come with rough sleeping such as violence, rape, prostitution and drugs.

Nightstop is not simply a B+B service. It is a supportive environment, especially for young people - most are aged 16 - 19. Young people have their own room and are given space to chill out. They don't have to talk to their hosts if they don't want to, but will receive a sympathetic ear if they do but hosts cannot enter into a confidential relationship with the young person. They will respect the young person's right to privacy.

The Nightstop team of hosts, drivers and support volunteers welcomes enquiries from new volunteers who will be part of a well-respected and friendly team who receive free CRB checks, free training and expenses. Above all, they gain great job satisfaction in helping local young people.

"I have gained immense enjoyment and satisfaction from being able to help young people when they need it most, just by providing the simple things like a good meal and a good night's sleep". (a host)
