All Nightstop volunteers complete the Nightstop Induction Training Course which lays out in depth, the requirements and limits of Nightstop and their volunteering role.

Volunteers are not called to be counsellors or mentors, the focus is 'basic hospitality'

All volunteers receive on-going training on various issues such as Drug and Alcohol Awareness, Child Protection, Listening Skills, Sexual Health and Mental Health.

Nightstop volunteers are not trained in counselling but young people can be signposted to other help agencies. Any items that did arise between the volunteer and the young person would be fed back by the volunteer to the Nightstop Co-ordinator to deal with appropriately.

The young persons support for their current situation should be provided by the multi-agency work surrounding their case.
